Candle Safety and Burning Tips
1. The first time you light a candle, burn it for at least one hour for each inch of it's diameter. This will allow the pool of wax to extend to the outside rim, and prevent your candle from forming a "canyon" in it's center. Burning your candle this way will always set it's memory. Each time you re-light your candle it will "remember" to burn out to the rim.
2. Keep your wick trimmed. This is essential for a clean, smoke free burn.People often complain about candles that smoke, however, this can be eliminated by trimming the wick to 1/4" every time you burn your candle. If you burn your candles for many hours, simply extinguish it, trim the wick, and re-light it.
3. Never leave debris or wick snipping's in the wax, this can cause your candle to smoke.
4. When you burn a highly scented candle, "mushrooming" may occur on the wick, treat this as a reminder to trim your wick.
5. Candles need to breathe. If you burn a candle in a very small room, it is likely to smoke. Please consider the size of the room in comparison to the size of the candle.
6. Never "blow out" a candle. Blowing will cause a lot of smoke, and may cause the wax to spray. The most effective way to extinguish a wick is to dip the wick in the wax and then straighten it again. A wick dipper works great for this.
